Of Mr. Childs it might be said that he built thePerth (Australia) electric railway system in connection withthe same contractors, and has also had charge of importantelectric railway construction in this country, including that ofthe Toledo & Monroe Electric Railway. The tramways in Kalgoorlie traverse the chief streets of thecity, and extend to Boulder, the principal mining district andsuburb. The cars are at the present time operated on an eight-minute headway. The fares chargedare 3 pence to any point within theKalgoorlie limits, and an additional 3pence to Boulder, with which placethe chief traffic exists.
