BOILER ROOM The old end wall of the boiler house separates the presentroom into two portions, which are connected by a large door.The boilers are all of the water-tulic type and have a total NEW STANDARD CLOSED CAR used in connection with the condensers and a Marsh steampump on the boilers. A new Stilwell-Bierce & Smith-Vailepump has been installed for boiler feeding, the Marsh pump puton the cold-water service and the Knowles pump held as re-serve and connected up as a fire pump. All the water that goesinto the boilers is measured by a Worthington hot-water meter. When designing the changes in the machinery, considerationhad also been given to the necessary piping so as to obtain thefinal results desired, and at the same time not interrupt serviceduring construction. PENNSYLVANIA RAILROAD STATION the steam auxiliaries was the Du Bois Iron Works, Du Bois,Pa. CAR HOUSE AND REPAIR SHOPBetween the car house and the power station there is a spaceof about 25 ft. in which has been built a machine shop capableof taking care of all ordinary repairs to trolley stock or powerstation equipment. This shop contains lathe, drill press, forge, 698 STREET RAILWAY JOURNAL. (Vol. XXL No. 19. grinder, benches, vises and a complete assortment of ma-chinists tools, power for its operation being obtained from a500-volt Crocker-Wheeler motor. The rear of the shop is fittedup as toilet and locker rooms. A view of the car house interior is shown. A wooden jibcrane at the side facilitates the removal of motors and otherheavy parts from the pits.
