A large theater ofelegant design, painted white, is being constructed. It is builtfrom designs suggested by President J. S. Polk, of the company.It will seat 3500 people, and room can readily be made for 500more. The interior is to be fitted with at least 1000 incandes-c*ent lights. A matched floor will cover the entire ground spacebeneath the oval umbrella-shaped roof. The company hasbought 1500 folding opera chairs, pews and settees for the restof the theater. The prosceniumwill be 34 ft. wide and about 26 ft. high. The frontage is to beelaborately painted, and faced with lights. The immense heightof the stage enclosure will give room for a great quantity ofscenery. A unique scheme is provided for getting into and outof the balcony or gallery. At the west side of the pavilion anentrance is made that will be on a level with the ground of thepark, a broad enclosed walk leading from the hill directly intothe gallery. This will do away with climbing of stairs to getinto the balcony.
