Besides the primary purpose of hauling heavyfreight cars, the locomotive will be used to carry freight andconstruction materials. Fresno is one of the most important railway centers in theState, and is also a large shipping point. From many pointsalono- the lines of the electric railway there is considerable pump, used in the elevator service, Woodbridge Building, NewYork city. The weight of thecar and trucks before the motors were installed was 25,000 lbs.The available weight for traction will be 20 tons. The height from track over roof is 11 ft. 9 ins.The window openings are 2 ft. gYz ins. wide, and the sashes arearranged to drop into pockets. Two sliding doors are providedat each side, with openings 4 ft. 6 ins. wide. Brake shafts atIjoth ends of the car have 20-in. vertical hand wheels. Standardfreight couplers are used, with centers 35 ins. from the rails.The bottom of the side sills is 38^ ins. from the track, and thedistance from track to car floor 4 ft. in.
