ruction of this car house was described and illustratedin its several stages in the Street Railway Journal of Feb.8, 1902. The building is divided into six entirely independentapartments, and the proposed structure on the northeast partof the lot will be divided in a similar manner. An alley willbe left between the two buildings. The repair shops comprise a cluster of buildings arranged asseen from the plan, Fig. i. It is difficult to convey an idea ofthe magnitude of the plant by photographs, but Figs. 2 and 3,showing the exterior, give some little idea of it. The lengthof the combined shops along Seventy-Eighth Street is 1050 ft,and they occupy a width of 202 ft. The erection of all theseshop buildings was accomplished in about six months. It willbe seen from the general arrangement that no transfer tablesare employed elsewhere around the property. The track run-ning through the middle of the machine shop and thence eastthrough the blacksmith and frog shops, serves to let cars enter
