As was intimated at the time the chief effortsof Tucker, Anthony & Company are being directed toward thecompletion of a through line between Columbus and Cleveland.At present the most important property in this group is theColumbus, Buckeye Lake & Newark Traction Company, which,by reason of an extension to Zanesville, is soon to be known asthe Columbus, Newark & Zanesville Traction Company. RAILWAY, WHERE IT PASSES CANAL ON ONESIDE AND 1 HE STEAM LINE AND HIGHWAY ON THE OTHER Railway, an Appleyard property extending from Zanesville toWheeling, will secure connection with the capital city over thisline. THE ROUTE Between Columbus and Hebron, 29 miles, the line followsthe old National Pike, a military road built by the nationalgovernment before this section of the country was settled, andover which the company has twenty-five-year franchises fromthe counties traversed. This .highway is also followed by theColumbus, London & Springfield Railway between Columbusand Springfield. The trolley is built at the side of the highway,but because of this it should not be considered in the sameclass as ordinary pike roads, since the highwav is nearly too ft. wide and the railway is separated from the wagon road bya ditch.
