In the present session powers are asked for the construction ofan extension from the Strand to the Temple station of the Dis-trict Railway. Stations are proposed at Earls Court, South Ken-sington, the Oratory, Knights Bridge, Hyde Park Corner, Pic-cadilly Circus, Cranbourn Street and Holborn (where it joins theGreat Northern & Strand Railway), Kings Cross, York Road,Holloway Road and Finsbury Park. The Great Northern & Strand Railway will establish communi-cation between Earls Court and Finsbury Park, and may be re-garded as an extension of the Great Northern Railway to theWest End, so far as its local passenger traffic is concerned, andas it overlaps that line between Kings Cross and Finsbury Parkit should secure a considerable share of the 30,000 passengers whouse Kings Cross station daily, and the connection with the Dis-
