As said before, the principal officers of the company havebeen the same for the past nine years: Thomas Lowry,president; C. G. Goodrich, vice-president, secretary andtreasurer ; J. F. Calderwood, auditor; W. J. Hield, generalmanager. The other officers and department heads are:R. L. Costigan, purchasing agent; G. Brigger, superin-tendent Minneapolis division ; D. S. Smith, superintendentSt. Paul division; R. C. Taylor, master mechanic; EdwardScofield, electrical engineer. During the storm of Feb. 17 a larger amount of snow fellin many districts in the East than in any other storm duringthe last twelve years. Yet, though the service on someroads was impeded, it was not more so than on neighboringsteam railroads.

STREET RAILWAY JOURNAL. 245 Electric Railway Equipment for Tokio TheTokio Densha Tetsudo Kabushika Kwaisha, which isthe largest street railway company in Japan, and whichoperates some 22 miles or more in that city, has just givencontracts for an extensive electrical equipment which it isexpected will be in operation early in 1903. The orderswere placed recently by Mr. Enyo, chief engineer of theTokio company, and financial arrangements have beenmade through the Japanese house of Mitsui & Co., ofNew York, whereby that firm guarantees the payment forthe machinery. The polyphase system of distribution at6600 volts will be used. The power house, which measures, inside dimensions,about 164 ft. x 102 ft., contains space for three 1800-hpengines, each directly connected to a 1200-kw. General 300 volts.
