it rooms situated at one end of two of thetrack bays. The floors in the bottom of the pits, as well asthe main floor, are granolithic dressed. The pit construc-tion is shown on the drawings. The timber upon which therail is laid can be removed and replaced, if desired, withoutdisturbing the granolithic floor. The tracks have a pitch of2 in. in each 100 ft. lengthwise of the house, and each trackis 2 in. lower than the next adjacent parallel track cross-ways of the house. These inclined planes are hardly per-ceptible in a view of the premises, but materially helped infitting the floor of the building to the grades of the sur-rounding streets. The rail used throughout the construc-tion is 60-lb. T, A. S. C. E. section. The pit rooms and all of the other service rooms areheated by steam.
