All the car bodies are builtfrom specifications of Ford, Bacon & Davis, bythe American Car Company. With the exceptionof the five mentioned above the cars have singletrucks, made by the Baltimore Car Wheel Com-pany. The shops are equipped to do any repairwork necessary. The road now operates thirty-three regular cars. All cars are fitted with over-head, automatic cut-out switches, also illum-inated signs, made by the Hunter IlluminatedCar Sign Company, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Wilsontrolley pole catchers. The type of fender used isshown in the illustrations of the cars. The vestibules areopen on the side, and vertical wheel brake handles are in-stalled. All cars are fitted with International double-typeregisters. The resident engineer in charge of the work of construc-tion for Ford, Bacon & Davis was James A. Emery. ♦♦^» The

DOUBLE-TRUCK CAR ON DECATUR LINE design is shown in the accompanying engravings. At theend of the Lakewood line is a waiting station, which in-cludes a rough shed, capable of holding four cars. It isequipped with a repair kit and small workshop at the end, Electric Buses in Chicago Peoples Rapid Transit Company, of Chicago, hasbeen organized with a capital stock of$500,000 to operate a line of electric busesbetween the heart of the business districtand outlying points on the north, westand south sides. Thirty buses will beused in the opening service, extra con-veyances to be added as conditions re-quire. The promoters calculate that the yearlyincome from the north division line atthe start will be $312,075. Each bus willmake thirty-eight trips daily, thirty min-utes to a trip, and it is figured that at least50 per cent of the seating capacity will befilled on each trip.
