Chicago Street Railroad Company, the West Chi-cago Street Railroad Company, the Chicago ConsolidatedTraction Company and the Chicago City Railway Com-pany, and the Calumet Company reports that it is intend- proper, there are far more crossings with steam railroadlines than are ordinarily found in a city, Chicago being agreat railroad center with tracks coming into the businessheart of the city at grade in almost all cases. In additionto this, there are further complications from the crossingof cable lines with each other and with electric and horserailways, so that altogether Chicago is an excellent place tostudy how to solve complicated engineering problems intrack construction. For example, the Weir Frog Company not long agomade for the West Chicago Street Railroad Company twomost complicated nests of crossings at Clinton and Ran-dolph Streets and Clinton and Madison Streets.
