As to the more important cities to-day very completeand extensive electric lines exist in Aix-la-Chapelle (Bruns-wick), Chemnitz, Dresden, Hamburg, Hanover, Leipzig,Munich, Stuttgart; while Breslau, Kassel, Frankfort,Cologne, Magdeburg, Konigsberg and Diisseldorf arebuilding, or about to begin. Berlin was late in adoptingelectric traction, but has been rapidly making up for losttime, having about 550 motor cars in operation at the pres-ent date. The Hamburg lines, which were started up in1894, represent about the best electric road to be seen inGermany in the way of an extensive network well equippedand splendidly managed. There are long lines of interurban roads in operationand under construction in the more important industrialdistricts of Silesia and the Rhine.
