ENTRANCE TO SUBWAY FROM WEST SHORE STATION, KINGSTON obtain that of the property owners. Under these circum-stances a request was made to the Appellate Division toappoint commissioners to decide whether the propertyowners for these 800 ft. were unreasonable in withholdingtheir consents; the commissioners found in favor ofthe new road. These suits created much interest atthe time, as deciding important legal questions, andwere commented upon in an extended way in the are first-class rubble masonry. The subway station is facedwith white enameled brick; the roofing is of open-hearthsteel troughs, with a tensile strength of 60,000 lbs. persquare inch. The plates and angles composing the troughsof the solid floor system were covered with asphalt, mixedten parts asphalt and thirty parts coal tar pitch. Thebottoms were then filled with a binder composed of )-in.clean, sharp gravel and No. 4 asphalt paving composition, 862 STREET RAILWAY JOURNAL. (Vol. XV. No. 12. in the proportions of 1 cn.
