A good idea of the amount of snow which fellat that time in localities where the fall is comparativelylight at most times, is shown in the accompanying engrav-ing, which was taken on the Newport Street Railway, atNewport, R. I. The means employed by this company forcombating this snow storm are the snow plow, with its longnose set at an acute angle, a snow shovel brigade, and,coupled with these, vigilance and prompt action. ♦♦♦ Combined Street Railway and Lighting Station The Hagerstown Railway Company has recently com-pleted a new station, from which power will be suppliedfor operating the street railway system and the electriclights for city and other service, both industries beingcontrolled by the same company.
