and the Abendroth & Root boilersare used by the Chicago General Railway Company; whilethe Chicago City Railway Company, as before stated, usesreturn tubular boilers chiefly, together with a Hazeltonboiler and a Babcock & Wilcox in one of its stations. The Green economizers are used in the Metropolitanand South Side Elevated stations, and in those of theSouth Chicago City, Chicago & Milwaukee and the Chi-cago Electric Traction Companies. The Wheeler Condenser & Engineering Company havefurnished the South Side Elevated Railroad with a Barn-ard water cooling plant of 10,000 h.p., previouslydescribed, and has furnished the Union Loop station witha 7500-h.p. outfit of Wheeler Admiralty surface con-densers, Wheeler vertical and horizontal feed water heat-ers, vertical twin air pumps, centrifugal circulating pumps,etc. Blake pumps of various types are used in the UnionLoop station, the Northwestern and South Side Elevatedstations, the Western Avenue and Hobbie Street stations

Chapman high and low pressure valvesare used in several of the elevated rail-way stations, and in those of the UnionTraction Company and the ChicagoCity Railway Company. In some of theUnion Traction stations and in theNorthwestern station are also a largenumber of 18-in.. 22-in. and 30-in. valvesof the Ludlow Manufacturing Company. The Siegrist Lubricating Companyhas installed a plant for oiling all of theengines and generators of the MetropolitanWest Side Elevated Railway Company. The Reynolds Corliss engines, of theAllis Company, are used in the stationsof all the elevated railway companies ofthe city except the Lake Street andUnion, and in the Hobbie Street andCicero & Proviso stations. Between3000 and 4000 h. p. in all have been in-stalled for railway service in size
