DOUBLE TRUCK MOTOR CAR wound for 600 volts and uses 3-4 amps, in order to com-press the air to 3-6 atmospheres. The two-cylinder, single-acting compressor of 76 mm. (3 in.) piston diameter, and astroke of 51 mm. (2 ins.) delivers 140 to 200 liters (5 to 7 cu.ft.) of free air per minute, at an average speed of 600 r.p.m.The weight of a four-axle motor car is 18,750 kg. (41,250lbs.). To insure the certainty of the current collection the August, 1899.) STREET RAILWAY JOURNAL. 527 motor cars are supplied with two trolley poles of the well-known Siemens & Halske sliding contact type. This hasproved satisfactory with the high speed of 60 km. per hour.
