The lease with the cityunder which the Bradford Tramways &Omnibus Company operates expires infour years, and there is no reason to doubtthat the company will then transfer thewhole of its system to the municipality.In the meantime the corporation has resolved to con-struct new lines to be operated electrically, and thetramway, that has just been equipped, forms the firstportion of what will eventually be a system of con- 000 and £70,000, and the work has been carried out underthe superintendence of the city surveyor, J. H. Cox. The total length of the route is 1 mile 1501 yards, thesteepest grade being 1 in 15 J, the total rise from one endof the line being 322 ft., which gives an average grade of 1 in 30-Y Girder rails weighing 105 lbs. per yard havebeen used throughout.
