ENTRANCE TO WASHINGTON PARK As the park season is very limited, it is often a questionwhether amusement resorts of this kind can be made self-sustaining. The fact that street railway companies havefound that parks, at the terminus of their roads, greatlystimulate traffic, is the cause of their rapid increase, and itis only a question of time when every street railway willhave a park or amusement resort at the terminus of theirroads. The cardinal principle of park development is to utilizeas much as possible the natural attractions which existin the area selected for the park. The next important mat-ter is the construction and arrangement of the variousbuildings with a view of getting the greatest amount of in-come with the least possible investment.
