TESTING ROO.M. TESTING. Every Westinghouse Engine, from thefive horse-power Junior to the seven-hun-dred horse power Compound, is testedunder full load before sliipment. Amplefacilities for testing the laiger sizes of en-gines will be provided in our new shops,now approaching completion. Our presenttesting room has accommodations for nineengines at once. The piping is arrangedso that the exhaust from any one enginecan be turned into a surface condenser,condensed and weighed. The engines areloaded by means of a Prony Friction Brake.Every engine carries its full load from twoto four days. We make running tests on ail Junior andStandard engines and economy tests ontwo engines taken at random from everyshop order. We make a careful test of thesteam consumption of every Compoundengine we build. Reports of these testswith sample indicator cards are on file forevery Compound engine ever built by us. This means that when you buy a Westinghouse engine you may be sureit is in perfect running or
