Our information is taken from the Railwayand Pub-lic Works Review, published at Florence. The Mt. Snaefel Railway, Isle of Man. In our November issue, some particulars were givenof the Snaefel Mountain Electric Railway, recently putin operation in the Isle of Man. Through the courtesy ofG. Noble Fell, the engineer of the railway, the accom-panying additional illustrations, which have neverbefore been published, are presented on this and thefollowing page. The line is about 4.^^ miles in length, rising 1820 ft. Electric Traction in Rome.

A newelectric road was put in operation inRome, Italy, during the fetes of September 20,1895, and the results already secured are such asto prove that the road more than fulfils the expectationsof the promoters. The line extends from the railroadstation to the Place de San Silvestro, establishing thuscommunication between the new part of Rome and thecenter of the city. The maximum grade is about sevenper cent for a distance of 1600 ft., the rest of theline being practically level. The minimum curves areof sixty foot radius. The rolling stock consists of ten cars, of which eightare in regular service and two in reserve. These carsoperate on a headway of from four to five minutes. Themaximum speed attained is about eleven miles per hourbut the average speed is very much lowei^, not usually ex-ceeding six miles per hour. In spite of this fact the roadseems to enjoy a fairly good traffic. The cars are all ofthe same type with longitudinal seats and room for fortypassengers. The equipment
