Street Railway Receiverships in the UnitedStates. The table on this page is a careful compilation of informationregarding forty-nine street railway corporations in the handsof receivers at the present time. Every effort has been made to make represents about two per cent of the number of cars in .service in theUnited vStiites. Twenty-seven of the forty-nine roads operate less than ten milesof track, fourteen operate between ten and twenty-five miles, sevenbetween twenty-five and fifty miles, and one over fifty miles.From this it appears that nearly eighty per cent of the roads aresmall properties, and this is also shown even more clearly from in- I.IST OF STREET RAILWAY COMPANIES IN THE HANDS OF RECEIVERS.
