naturally has hisattention called to the questionof time, which might, perhaps,not occur where arabic numeralsare used without explanation.The limit as to time is explainedin a note at the head of theticket, so that a passenger look-ing at the dial on the ticket andthen at the note sees readilythat the intention of the ticketis to limit him to the next car, orto twenty minutes. As will beseen, the month of issue is notput on the ticket, as the serialnumbers are thought sufficientindication of the month. Thisreduces the number of figuresand printing, and makes theticket very simple, while secur-ing the objects of a ticket ofthis kind. While transfer tickets havenot been used before in Mil-waukee, and as, in consequence,they were a novelty in that city,it is interesting to note that they were put in use withhardly any friction, and transfers are now being madesmoothly and easily. The Ottawa Electric KailwayCompany. This is the title of a new company whichwill include all of the electric railways inOttawa, Can. The bill before the DominionParliament amalgamating the Ottawa CityPassenger Railway Company, and the Elec-tric Street Railway Company passed its finalreading June 15. The authorized capital ofthe new company is $(,000,000, and the roll-ing stock consists of twenty-two open andthirty-one closed motor cars, four trail cars,three postal cars and five sweepers. A Deserved Testimonial. LARGE ARMATURE STAR. making castings, the Wells & French Company is to behighly commended for the skill and workmanship in suc-cessfully turning out such perfect work on its first orderof this kind. An inspection of the Calumet Electric Street Railwaywas made June 16, by the officers of that road and guestsupon invitation of John Farson.
