The question of ambulances being operated in St.Louis, on the Union Depot Railroad Companys lines, hasbeen agitated. It is proposed to run these for emergency calls from the CityHospital to anypoint on the abovesystem, whichmeans a great deal,as it reaches mostof the importantpoints in the cen-tral, northern andsouthern portionsof the city. Theadvantages of anambulance car overthe ordinary vancan readily be ap-preciated. Theycan be run muchmore rapidly, aresmoother, and, onaccount of size, aremore comfortablefor a patient thanthe ordinary wag-on.
