Overhead Lines.—The overhead construction is carriedon cedar poles thirty feet in length and measuring twelve FIG. 2.—REPAIR SHOP—TERRE HAUTE STREET RAILWAY CO. built by Stephenson, Pullman, the Centropolis Car &Manufacturing Company and other makers. Five ofthe trail cars were built by the Pullman Car Company,and the others were manufactured by the Terre HauteStreet Railway Company. All are mounted on McGuiretrucks, and are operated by Westinghouse No. i, No. 3and No 12 motors. This road was first to place in servicethe new Westinghouse No. 12 motors. These motors aregiving good satisfaction, and the officials of the railwaycompany speak loudly in their praise. The gears usedare steel and cast iron, the latter being made by the rail-way company. The cars are supplied with Lewis & Fowler ten inch,Meaker square, stationary and portable, and New Havenregisters, and two types of electric heaters are used. Theseats are covered with Wilton carpets, and the sand boxes

The machinery in the repair shopsincludes one twenty inch lathe, manufactured by the OhioMachine & Tool Works, a thirty inch drill press, emerywheel, etc. The armature winding room, which is locatedover the machine shop, is 28 x28 ft.
