To the Right Honourable Lord Viscount Rialton, Son and Heir apparent of the Right Honble. Sidney Earl of Godolphin &c. Lord High Treasurer of Great Britain, this Map of South Britain is most Humbly Dedicated by your Lordship's most Humble Servant Herman Moll Geographer.

Advertisement: Having perused Mr. Ogilsby's most useful Survey of ye Roads of South Britain, with his Description of its Rivers and other curious Remarks; And finding that several Persons instead of following this Exact and most Intelligible Way, have represented ye Towns by Squares, and Ellipses &c. The Roads by strait Lines, and added such Multitudes of Distances, as have left no Room for the Names of Hills, Moors, Forrests, and hardly any Rivers, Besides which, many Errors are obvious in the Position of their Ovals, and Form of ye Land in Cornwal, Cumberland &c. particularly where the Error in the Latitude is 8.10. and above 14 Miles. We have endeavourd here, for the Satisfaction of Travellers and other curious Persons, to rectify ye afore mentioned Errors, from the late and most Correct Observations.
