Thisquestion was addressed to me by an in-telligent lady, who, like myself, had beenattending the lectures of a learned pro-fessor at a Chautauqua Assembly. Ihad been surprised and paiued at someof the positions taken by the lecturer,especinlly with regard to the record foundin the first few chapters of Genesis. Ifin writing these chapters, Moses availedhimself of earlier recqrds, as is probable,this would not imply that the facts pre-sented are mythical. The internal eyi-dence that the Mosaic account of crea-tion 6omes from a higher source thanshrewd guessing seems to me perfectlyconcUsive.
