The NOEMA observatory under the night sky

Summary[edit]

Description
English: The image shows the NOEMA observatory, one of Europe's biggest astronomical facilities. Located at more than 2500 meters above sea level on the Plateau de Bure in the French Alps, the observatory consists of twelve 15-meter antennas that can be moved on tracks. During observations, the antennas work as a single telescope, a technique called interferometry. On the image, the NOEMA antennas look at the night sky with the Milky Way.
