More than 130 German divisions (1,800,000men) had been used on these two battle-fronts and an almostcomplete overhauling of their entire army had been madr^,necessary for a new start. Ger-man drafts in use m refitting divisions were about half com-posed of returned wounded and recruits, including boys of18 years.
