Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The Kilnaruan Stone, Bantry In Ireland standing stones are known as 'Gallauns'. This is a special kind of gallaun known as an 'Ogham stone' (pronounced Oh-Am). These carry inscriptions in the pre-medieval Ogham alphabet and this has christian carvings on it and also carvings of men in boats (St.Brendan?). Of course, these carvings may have been added to an already old stone. This photograph shows the East facing side.
