Summary[edit]

Description
English: The Granite Trail, Newcastle (1). The Granite Trail is a public path on the course of an old railway (more accurately a wagon incline) formerly used to carry granite from Millstone quarry (this square) to the harbour (background). Partly stepped and partly on a slope it climbs from near sea level to around 600ft in just over half a mile - very steep (approximately 1 in 3). The view is down (!) across King Street to the harbour. Continue to 1214446.
