It occu-pies a space of 14,700 square yards, and it is soarranged as to the level that it can be flooded inwinter and form a grand skating rink. The groundfor football is at the extreme end of the Park, and issomewhat smaller, but even this is a good size—10,300 square yards. There are also open places suitable for lawn tennis,croquet grounds, quoits, flower gardens, and numerousrecesses, which will be very picturesque. The walksare nearly 2 miles in length, divided into S91 linealyards 12 feet wide, 1080 of 10 feet, and 1000 of 6 feet.To the right of the main entrance will be a lodge.The plants, trees and shrubs suitable to the soil andsituation number 30,000. The drains are over 2 milesin length, and the size of pipe varies from 12 to6 inches. The Park is surrounded by a handsomeand substantial iron palisading.

Some years ago I visited the Glasnevin Garden,Dublin, and was struck with the beauty of a GoldenWillow tree, which, when seen from a distance, wasa sheet of gold. It may have been worked uponsome of the taller-growing Willows, and thus got alift into notoriety. Under ordinary circumstances wesee this tiny Willow the drudge of every nursery,used in packing, and twisted to bind most sortsof nursery stock. I was delighted to see inDublin an old favourite treated with respect.When the tree gets old and stunted the youngtwigs get short and crowded, and fill up thecentre of the tree, so that the sunshine is reflectedas if from a plant of more pretension. It is almostthe only one that rejoices in such a bark andat such a time.
