Description

The Crab Pulsar in Taurus Multiwaves image assembled by Giuseppe Donatiello (J2000)RA: 05h 34m 31.97s Dec: +22° 00' 52.1" Mag (v): 16.5

The Crab Pulsar (PSR B0531+21) is a young neutron star in the center of the Crab Nebula, a remnant of the supernova SN 1054. Discovered in 1968, the pulsar was the first to be connected with a supernova remnant (SNR). The pulsar is roughly 20 km in diameter and the pulsar "beams" rotate 30 times each second.
