| Description |
English: Entrance door to The Guard House opposite The Convent, Main Street, Gibraltar. "Convent Guard Room", as seen in 2007, probably[1] constructed in the early 1700s when The Convent (opposite, behind viewer's back) became the official residence of the Governor of Gibraltar. In 2015 it was converted to become the reception room and main external entrance for No.6 Convent Place, the office of the Chief Minister of Gibraltar. Two brass guns stand outside the building, as they have done since before the alterations. "A new doorway, to face on to the Convent now serves as an entrance for the Guard to march out of when mounting Guard. The new door is faced with authentic stones taken from the old Buena Vista barracks"[2]. This new door was created in the external wall of No.6 to the left of the old Guard Room door, and is inscribed on the door "No.6". In front of this new door on the left the Chief Minister is accustomed to pose for official photographs with important visitors. |
