d The Hague. In the latter city, as we were hurryingto catch a train, we were accosted by ayoung lad selling Dutch papers of alldescriptions. Although we had notspoken he turned to us and called outLondon Times, ladies! This incidentshows how even small children in otherlands acquire the knowledge of the Eng-lish language, and in all the countrieswe visited we had no difficulty in mak-ing ourselves understood. Needless tosay we bought The Times! ! In Berlin we were guests at aMatrons School, where post-graduatecourses are given in hospital administra-tion. We were greatly interested in thesocial service organizations and in thework being done for the health of com-ing generations through the care nowgiven to mothers and children. In Cop-enhagen, as guests of the Danish NursesAssociation, we visited several munici-pal hospitals and saw the great advancemade in nursing in the Scandinaviancountries, both in the adoption of aneight-hour-day and in state pensions fornurses.
