The bridge of no return is located in Ikot Abasi in Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria.

Summary[edit]

Description
English: The infamous point known as the "bridge of no return" gained notoriety as the last stop for slaves before boarding waiting ships that transported them into slavery, mainly destined for the US and Europe. This jetty was constructed by Europeans in 1795 and featured compartments serving as holding areas for resistant slaves, accommodating up to 30 individuals each. The entire jetty had a capacity for 150 people. Over many years, countless slaves left their ancestral lands at this location, embarking on journeys to Europe and the US, where they began new lives as peasants.
