Summary[edit]

Description
English: Leica Picture
English: Arabidopsis thaliana; a model plant, expressing a transgene termed as GUS gene during a histochemical test of the β-glucuronidase activity detected as blue colour at the place of enzymatic reaction on leaf rosette of the plant transformed with Ensifer adhaerens OV14. This work proved the scientific concept of plant genetic engineering using a diverse, non-Agrobacterium species as a novel vector platform. The commercial contribution of this bacterium as a technology platform for genome engineering exhibit the potential of generating revenue for Teagasc from the Ensifer-mediated transformation (EMT) technology.
