Attempts to raise oats andbarley have failed, but potatoes and turnips at-tain the size of a pigeons egg, and cabbagesgrow very small. The radish is the only vege-table which grows unchecked. The inhabitants of Greenland (see Eskimos)are of the Eskimo race, more or less mixed withEuropean blood. The individuals of the mixedrace hardly differ as to language and habits fromthe ginuine Eskimo.
