acid hypo closes them up, hardening the print in thesame w^ay as an acid bath hardens a plate. The prints aredried between blotters and unless you have used an acid baththe prints will stick to the blotters. WASHING: After the print has been fixed out, place ina tray, and let a stream of water slowly run in through a hose,or place a tumbler in the tray and let the water run into itoverflowing into the tray, and your print will be washed in tenminutes After washing the print having been hardened inthe acid jath, place your four fingers under the print, lift out ofthe wash water, let it drain, place on a blotter, blot off sur-face moisture with another blotter, then transfer the prints toclean blotters and allow to dry for about an hour. Be surethat you lay out your prints smoothly, place about three blot-ters between each layer of prints. Lintless blotters must beused such as are made for photographic purposes. 4> U CO < O O < wanted quickly, take them out of the blotters in about fifteenminutes, iron them out on the reverse side with an iron justwarm enough for the hand to rest on comfortably. MOUNTS: I find that the best mounts are made fromi6o lb. Buff India Velum, manufactured by Seymour & Co.,24th St. & 7th Ave., New York City. I make the mounts my-self, each mount is plate sunk. This is done by cutting a thinpiece of cardboard just a little larger than the print, first hav-ing determined on the size of the mount. Place the cardboardjust where you want the print to be on the mount, now care-fully turn this over and see that the cardboard is parallel tothe mount. This is done by lifting up one of the top edgesof the mount, and with the use of a trimming board thatfs marked off in squares, you can accurately guide the spacingwhen the cardboard is properly placed, tracing around it withthe round end of a toothbrush handle and exactly where itrests on the mount.
