HOME PORTRAITURE WITH NITROGENMAZDA LAMP AND REFLECTOR By W. W. MOREY N article published in the 1916 American Annualof Photography on the Nitrogen Mazda light, contributed by Mr. E. J. Wall, F. R. P. S., ledme to experiment with this light in connectionwith amateur photography, resulting in theassembling of the apparatus herewith illustrated (Figure i).Many times I have desired to take photographs at night, and on dark days, or in dark parts of the house where thebackground was suitable but the light was not, and these aresome of the limitations all amateurs are at times compelled tomeet. Theshade should be as light as possible, as I find the clamp holdsmore securely when attached to the back of a chair or shelf. The eye which screws into socket holding on the clamp isvery useful when desired to suspend light from ceiling bymeans of a hook. The portrait (Figure 2) was taken with one second ex-posure and with light five feet from subject. Afi exposure offrom one to five seconds is correct, depending on di
