Summary[edit]
DescriptionThe "Dancing Stones" circle and Carn Kenidjack - geograph.org.uk - 230200.jpg |
English: The "Dancing Stones" circle and Carn Kenidjack. In the foreground are some of the stones in the Tregeseal East stone circle (also known as The Dancing Stones after the usual legend about the stones being petrified sinners who broke the sabbath by dancing). The "East" part of the name distinguishes it from the now-destroyed Tregeseal West circle which was close by to the west of this circle. On the horizon is the granite outcrop known as Carn Kenidjack (or the Hooting Carn), a very distinctive natural landmark. There are many prehistoric remains on this area of West Penwith moorland, but this stone circle is presently the most obvious. |
