Organized in 1884,its object from the start has been to fit young men forpositions of responsibility in the manufacture and sale oftextiles. The recent growth of the industry in this countryhas resulted not only in a larger number of mills, but alsoin a great increase in the size of the establishments, and acorresponding development of division of labor and special-ization of production. This specialization has been carriedso far that it has become virtually impossible for a generaland comprehensive knowledge of the business as a wholeto be obtained in the typical modern mill, and the youngman who aspires to the possession of such knowledge mustseek it elsewhere.
