| Description |
English: Tesco water tower. Before the supermarket was built on this site the water tower was painted battleship grey with the word Bowaters on it. The Bowater paper mill closed some years ago now but this local landmark remains next to what is still known by older residents as the Bowater roundabout. Today in 2010 the large roundabout containing 9 sets of traffic lights is still officially sign posted as Bowater Roundabout, the roundabout also used to carry the traffic from Rainham to the M2 and Chatham (west bound) without the sound of angry drivers swapping lanes and hooting. But Medway Council repainted the road markings making it unclear that their are two lanes from Rainham to Gillingham/Chatham, their mistake has caused many near misses. They even put up cameras to monitor the situation and still couldn't put two and two together. |
