Visual distortion of fast moving cubes due to Terrell effect

| Description |
English: Each strip depicts the same scene of aligned cubes with the observer going respectively at speeds 0c, 0.2c, 0.4c, 0.6c, 0.8c from right to left. The cubes seem to rotate midway through the screen because of the Terrell effect. If we set the cubes side to be 1m, then c is 0.1m/frame or equivalently 3.3m/s, the camera is set at 0.5 m above the top of the cubes and at 1.5m away from their front faces, the space between each cube is 2m. The lighting is not accurate.
Français : La même scène est décrite par plusieurs observateurs allant de la ligne du haut à celle du bas respectivement à une vitesse de 0c, 0.2c, 0.4c, 0.6c, 0.8c par rapport aux cubes. Les cubes semblent pivoter vers le milieu de l'écran à cause de l'effet de Terrell. Si les cubes sont de côté 1m, alors c vaut 0.1/image soit environ 3.3m/s, la caméra est placée à 0.5m au dessus du haut des cubes et à 1.5m de leurs faces avant (soit (1, 2, 0) en coordonnées cartésiennes si on place l'origine au milieu de l'écran sur la droite où se déplacent les centres des cubes), l'écart entre chaque cube est de 2m. L'éclairage n'est pas photo-réaliste. |
