side flows on to the Atlantic. The elevation of the main building is, approxi-mately, 1,050 feet above sea level, and from its cen-tral tower may be seen the peaks of the NorthGeorgia mountains and those of the Blue Ridge. The climate is bracing, the drainage naturallyperfect, and the water, the purest freestone, is un-contaminated by sewage. Decatur is six miles northeast of Atlanta, imme-diately on the Georgia Railroad. It is also con-nected with the city by two electric lines with 20-and 30-minute schedules. The Georgia Railroadruns frequent passenger-trains, all of which stop atDecatur, thus making it quite convenient for allthose living between Lithonia and Decatur, as wellas between Atlanta and Decatur, to attend the In-stitute. The accessibility and nearness of Decatur to thecity of Atlanta, with its system of railways reach-ing every portion of the South Atlantic States, places the Institute within convenient reach ofevery section. 68 <: M o wn t—(o o uwo oo I—I ^o ^o o

General Information^ The situation of Decatur, sheltered from the coldwinds of the more northerly section by the BlueRidge range of mountains, and yet at an altitudefar beyond the malarial lowlands of the South At-lantic and Gulf States, gives to the Institute manyof the pleasant and beneficial effects of a delightfulhealth resort. Persons residing in South Georgia,Florida, South Alabama, Mississippi and other GulfStates, will find here an atmosphere invigoratingand bracing, but 7iot severe; while others residentin more northerly sections will escape the severitiesof a rigorous winter climate without encounteringmalarial or enervating influences. The town has excellent telegraphic, telephonic, postal and express facilities. Presbyterian, Methodist and Baptist churcheshave regular services and resident pastors. Thereare also weekly services at the Episcopal chapel. The Donald Fraser High School for boys, a pre-paratory school of high grade and superior manage-ment, is located here. The
