Temperance Statira (Hall) Bown

Description
English: Temperance Statira (Hall) Bown was an Idaho pioneer, arriving in 1865. She was born near Syracuse, New York, May 30, 1832, and she died in Boise January 15, 1904. In 1853 she married Joseph Bown in Lake County, Illinois. The Bowns later moved to Waterloo, Iowa. Joseph Bown followed the Oregon Trail west and settled in the Boise Valley in 1863, three miles east of Boise City. In 1865 he returned to Iowa and moved his family west. Bown Way and Bown Crossing are named for the Bowns. The Joseph Bown House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
