Summary[edit]

Description
English: Simple TEA laser usable for nitrogen laser. The arrows show currents. Power supply: green. Spark gap discharge: orange. Laser electrodes discharge: red. Metal: gray or black. Dielectric: blue. Nitrogen: transparent. Side-view: top. Top-view: bottom.

The theory is neither traveling wave nor lumped elements, but something in between. Real laser channel length would be 0.5 meter or less.

After the right gap distances are found, the metal plates may be pressed into the dielectric to improve the capacity. Furthermore glue and glass-works may be applied to seal the laser channel and the spark gap. For example for a nitrogen laser the pressure in the channel is supposed to be lower than atmosphere (then this is not really a TEA laser anymore). The spark gap is faster at higher pressure, but the danger of an explosion limits the pressure in simple plastic set-ups to 200 kPa.
