Summary[edit]

Description

Citadel Hill, Halifax, Nova Scotia. In service since 1803, the Old Town Clock is another iconic symbol of Halifax located at the Citadel (and is also familiar to fans of children's television as the model for Chimey the Clock Tower, from the programme "Theodore Tugboat" created by native Haligonian Andrew Cochran). Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, the persnickety commander in chief of the British army in North America, suggested its construction as a remedy for the habitual tardiness of his troops. It was fully restored in 1990 to its original Georgian-style appearance, and again in 2005.
