Description

Sometimes, the difference between an amazing image and one that is simply nice, is the fact that the image looks natural. Images that seem to capture an unaware subject are almost always more powerful than images that are staged and contrived. This is because we like to feel part of a moment, that we have seen something that lasted a mere second and that you had to be there at that time to see it as its displayed. Staged images can work, but they lack a certain honesty that can make a photo truly unique.


So how do you go about making images that are believably authentic, when they are taken during an obviously staged situation? Lets face it, all photoshoots are staged, they are by definition a deliberate attempt to achieve photos. Both model and photographer are conspiring to create an environment to take images that pertain to a certain style or genre. How can they be honest? Well, they can't, but there are ways in which you can go about your photoshoot that will enhance the viewers perception of authenticity.
