Sydney ferries at Circular Quay circa 1920s

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: This image from a photographic print produced around 1930 shows the Sydney skyline and all the ferry wharves at Circular Quay, including seven Sydney ferries and one Manly ferry. From the far left is one of the two steel hulled ferries of the 'Kanangra' type, one Manly ferry of the early 'B' type (white funnel with black top), one small Sydney ferry of the 'K' type, one medium 'K', one of the large 'Kubu' type, two more 'Ks' and part of one other, partly obscured by the large ship berthed at No. 4, Sydney Cove (right). The number of ferries suggests that the Sydney Harbour Bridge (1932) is not yet open.

The Farmers & Graziers Building (later site of the AMP Building) can be seen behind Circular Quay as well as the Customs House and various buildings displaying advertisements such as Tooth's Sydney Bitter Ale, Berger's Paints and Varnishes which "Keep on keeping on", Pitt Parking Station and the Bank of New South Wales.
