| Description |
English: Swingbridge across Fawley power station dock A public footpath skirts the perimeter of Fawley power station, on the Southampton Water side. This bridge enables the footpath to cross the power station dock. The wire mesh cover is presumably for the public's safety, falling into the dock would be very dangerous as it is also the cooling water intake for the power station. The bridge is a swingbridge to allow shipping into and out of the dock - when the bridge is open the footpath is closed: at the time of writing, this last happened on 12 December 2006. |
